PRODUCT REPLACEMENT ANNOUNCEMENT – CMD400 SERIES
In keeping with our ongoing commitment to product development and protection against obsolescence PACSCOM is pleased to announce the launch of the new CMD500 family of high performance radio modems. This product is available to order immediately and is being marketed as a direct replacement for the existing CMD400 series.
To cause minimum inconvenience to our customers this new product is a totally compatible follow-on. It is completely footprint and pinout compatible in order that it can be used in all systems by existing users with no amendment or adaptation required.

The new CMD500 does use a different processor however so PACSCOM have taken the opportunity to update the Programming Software. Although functionally almost identical to the old CMD400 package, the new Windows package is more user friendly and links to the radio through a separate diagnostic/configuration port (RJ11). This allows the laptop to be connected without disconnecting the serial data connector/power loom and does not require a separate programming mode command to initialise.
The key differences and improvements are:
- Frequency selection by rotary switch on front panel
- Programming via separate RJ11 port
- Optional separate power connector (existing power through looms also works)
- Wider Frequency range of radio module (15MHz ) by software selection
- Inbuilt health checks and diagnostics available via simple Terminal or Programming Package

The same modes of operation and set-up parameters are maintained in the new product so existing users will find configuration and use very similar to the CMD400.
Please note that although the CMD400 is no longer available to buy new, we will continue to support this product for the next five years by repair or by replacement with a CMD500.
